Norman

The one who started it all...

2008 OTTB chestnut gelding

I bought Norman in the fall of 2011 as a 3 year old off the track and from day one he has been quiet and easy going.  It was this quiet nature that convinced me to buy him with the plan to resell within the year.  At the time, I was working for Phillip Dutton and was fortunate enough to have him and his team guide me in bringing Norman along to his first few events.  He took quickly to eventing, making his USEA debut at one Novice event before moving on to Training level.  At this point, I had only competed at Training level myself and so I decided to keep him, just to see how far we could go.  From there, I moved on to Ohio, Kentucky, Florida, and back to Ohio with Norman and Lilo (trusty supervisor) in tow.  I balanced my teaching and riding career with Norman’s competition schedule.  I was lucky to find employment with people

(like Nori Scheffel and Margaret McElhany) who supported me and the little orange horse so I could continue to chase my competitive dreams.  With guidance from my coach, Cathy Jones-Forsberg, in the summer of 2014 we made the move up to the Preliminary, fall of 2015; the move up to Intermediate, and summer of 2017; the move up to Advanced with several FEI competitions scattered throughout.

There have been bumps in the road and plans that didn’t pan out, but the process has taught me that the journey is not a straight line.  I am so fortunate to have found such an incredible, athletic partner whose enthusiasm for jumping is matched only by his love of cribbing.  If you are interested in becoming a part of the team and joining us on our journey please contact me to learn more!

MLM Milo

2014 Thoroughbred gelding

17.3 hh

Novice level event horse

$35,000

“Milo” is a larger than life presence with an in-your-pocket personality. This striking young man will have heads turning anywhere you go. He had experience in the jumper ring before spending the last year learning to event. And he seems to love it! Has done BN and novice mini trials this summer and stepped out at the novice level for his recognized debut this fall. Took on the electric atmosphere of the Kentucky Horse Park like a gentleman, just one green mistake in the show jump ring was the only bobble. Milo attacked the cross country like an old pro!

Bold and willing with looks and movement to match, Milo will make someone their dream partner! Easy to haul and straight forward to handle at home and at horse shows (sometimes just needs a gentle reminder that he’s 17.3, not 12.2. He just wants to snuggle!)

While he is very sweet natured, his size and athleticism mean he will do best with a confident rider in a regular program. We have taken our time with him to let him build strength over his large frame, but it is our estimation that in the right hands he could be the real deal!
